As well as the full previews, I wanted to do some quick fire questions about SXSW with Brent, Janet and Hugh, about their thoguhts behind SXSW. So here, by the miracle of modern editing, is a short sharp look at the festival, while everyone gets on their feet after the first night of parties and stumbles into the convention center.

Janet Pierson is on the end of the line in our final preview of South by Southwest. Taking over from Matt Dentler at SXSW Film, Janet is no stranger to film-making (having been involved with many films, including Clerks and Roger & Me to name two), and her enthusiasm for the challenge of the Film Festival is clear for all to hear.

Our second preview of South by Southwest is Hugh Forrest from the Interactive conference – now established as one of the flagship confereces of the tech world. Hugh and I cover a number of issues, including how late can the plans change; does panel picker promote diversity at SXSW interactive; deciding on the keynote speakers and inviting people back to speak again; the party scene; and the growth of SXSW.

This is the first of our three preview shows for the South by Southwest festivals, and arguably SXSW is most widely known for it’s music festival (although we know that Film and Music are catching up quickly in their respective circles). I caught up with Brent Grulke, who helps helm SXSW Music, to find out how the preparations are coming along, where the bands are from, and generally find out why 2009 could well be the best year yet for SXSW Music.
